Welcome to the Flying Start Federation which comprises of two small village primary schools, Parkham and Buckland Brewer. The Federation, was officially formed in January 2012 and has a single Governing Body of twelve local people plus the Executive Headteacher.
The Federation provides excellent opportunities for teachers and other staff to develop their professional expertise which directly impacts on the quality of teaching and learning for the children. Staff are able to share their best practice within a professional learning community developing an exciting and purposeful curriculum for all our children.
All of our work and development is driven by making each of our schools exciting, vibrant, inclusive learning organisations which always put children first.
At the Flying Start Federation we treat the Safeguarding of children as a priority. If you have any concerns about the safety of any child please speak to one of the adults responsible for Safeguarding

Severe Weather Procedures:
We are now coming to that time of year when bad weather can prevent the schools from opening all day or on time. Should we experience poor weather then please look here for daily updates:
We will also inform Radio Devon should either or both schools need to close.
If only one school needs to close then Federation children can attend which ever school is open.
Sometimes we will delay opening to let bad weather clear so please watch out here for updates and Radio Devon.
It is up to parents to decide whether it is safe to travel to school should the schools remain open, but please inform the school of your decision so attendance registers can be marked accordingly.
Mr Hamilton visits to tell us all about brass instruments. If you would like for your child to have lessons within school then please contact Mr Hamilton directly at email@example.com
